Position Description A graduate research assistantship (PhD) investigating the distribution and abundance of pollinator species across North Dakota is available in the School of Natural Resource Sciences at North Dakota State University. To improve our understanding of pollinator communities in grassland landscapes this student will be asked to measure bee and butterfly populations and vegetation parameters across North Dakota grassland ecosystems. The student will join an inter-disciplinary team of researchers and will have the opportunity to collaborate with other graduate students and faculty. Annual stipend will be $23,500 (3% cost of living increases annually) plus a full tuition-waiver.
Preferred Qualifications Candidates must have a Master of Science degree from an accredited university and a valid driver’s license. The most competitive applicants will have multiple years of field experience including previous work with pollinators and grassland plant species identification. Students will be expected to work well independently and with a team and should have experience using some or all of the following programs: ArcGIS, program MARK, PRESENCE, Distance, and program R.
