ubject: AGU-2016 session "Land use decisions and biogeochemical processes"

Dear Colleagues,

Please consider submitting your work to the following session at the
upcoming AGU Fall Meeting. Abstracts are due on_August 3rd_.

B047:*Land use decisions and biogeochemical processes*
<https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm16/preliminaryview.cgi/Session13117> (ID# 13117)

*Invited and confirmed speakers:*
- Lucy Hutyra (Boston University)
- Randy Wynne (Virginia Tech)

*Session Description:*Agricultural and managed forest landscapes can
greatly affect atmospheric greenhouse gas exchange, nutrient runoff, and
water dynamics. From local to global scales, biogeochemical cycles are
intricately linked to management and land-use decisions that
intentionally alter plant interspecific or intraspecific genetic
composition, site fertility, water-flow, and disturbance regimes. The
choices made among management options are also, in turn, sensitive to
economic conditions or government interventions as these respond to
external drivers (e.g. climate change). Submissions are encouraged that
use any approach (empirical or modeling) and scale (plot to global) to
link a land use management decision to a biogeochemical outcome.
Researchers investigating linkages between societal drivers and
biogeochemical process are also encouraged to submit.

*Organizers:* Jason G Vogel (U Florida), Asko Noormets (NC State U),
Quinn Thomas (Virginia Tech), Lisa Samuelson (Auburn U)
