Subject: NPSA GS-09, Manu'a District Ranger Open

I want to ask for your assistance in getting the word out that the National
Park of American Samoa is advertising for our Manu'a District Ranger,
GS-09. This position is duty stationed on Ofu Island. This is a demanding
job in a remote location

It is open to candidates through both Gov-wide Merit Promotion and All
Sources. The MP announcement is open from 7/13/16-7/22/16 and the DE
announcement is open from 7/13/16 - 7/17/16. Would you please pass this
along to your colleagues in the other regions and agencies and anyone who
might be interested?

This will be a tremendously challenging and rewarding job. Working with
park program leaders, the individual provides logistical support for park
programs and projects taking place in the Manu'a Islands. Due to the remote
setting, the skill set required to be successful at this position is wide
and varied, and includes some knowledge of resource management, facility
and vehicle maintenance and education. Community outreach and relationship
building skills will be key in this position. Open ocean boat handling
skills are also a plus.

The individual will advise the superintendent on all issues related to the
Ofu and Ta'u units of the park, and the associated communities.

I would be glad to talk with anyone who might be interested. This is a
particularly great opportunity as the park has plans to expand operations
in the Manu'a islands in the near future.

Thank you for your help in recruiting for this very important position.
