The City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks department is looking
to develop a web-based platform/portal/app/interface to our SQL
databases and GIS info. This interface should streamline the collection,
analysis, and distribution of data across a number of staff teams
working with a diversity of tabular and spatial data sets related to
natural, cultural, agricultural, and recreation resource monitoring. It
would be a one-stop shop for data entry and data retrieval for our staff
to use. At the minimum, it should replace Microsoft Access front ends,
and then potentially offer some additional functionality, like map
interfaces.

We are in the discovery phase of this project, and we are now looking
for examples from other agencies, so called "best of breed solutions."
Ones that we have on our list for examination are IRMA from the National
Park Service and TerraTrak from Portland Metro.

Do you have any examples of web-based data portals that you have worked
with that you could share? Or, any lessons learned from trying to
develop something similar?

Please write to me directly. If I get a lot of comments, I'll summarize
and post the results.
