I am pleased to share with you a new GIS Tenure-track faculty position in the 
Department of Geography at The University of Nevada, Reno, starting July 2017.

We are in an exciting growth period in Geography at UNR – we have a new 
Geotechnologies Specialization and Minor and we are beginning to offer online 
GIS classes. We are adding specializations and minors in Climate, Water and 
Ecosystems; Climate Studies; Environmental Policy and Management; and 
Globalization, Politics and Place. We are currently a faculty of 13 that 
includes interest in human and physical geography, with a number of us using 
GIS and spatial modeling techniques in our research. We are excited to see our 
numbers increase to 14!

The Department of Geography at the University of Nevada, Reno, invites 
applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor in applied GIS. 
The successful candidate will apply geospatial technologies to solve 
contemporary societal/environmental problems. The candidate will need to 
sustain an active funded research program and supervise graduate students at 
the masters and doctoral level. Primary teaching responsibilities will include 
undergraduate/graduate courses in GIS, spatial statistics, and her/his 
specialty. The department standard teaching load is 3 courses a year. 
Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent in Geography or a related field by the 
time of appointment and a demonstrated capacity for research.
The anticipated start date is July 1, 2017. Candidate will receive a start-up
