The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation is currently seeking candidates for a Project Review Assistant position located in Richmond. DCR's Natural Heritage Division is the state program responsible for identifying and protecting Virginia's natural communities and rare species and managing the State Natural Area Preserve System. The Natural Heritage project unit reviews 200-250 projects a month in order to identify potential impacts to threatened and endangered species and other natural heritage resources. These projects are submitted by localities, land trusts and state and federal regulatory agencies as well as by private consultants seeking information to meet local, state, and federal regulatory needs and for conservation recommendations. Responsibilities include: assisting with project review by receiving projects, maintaining database and performing initial spatial analysis. This position will also perform secondary review of projects. Application deadline: September 27, 2016.
