SAVE THE DATE – Urban Deer Session at the International Urban Wildlife Conference San Diego, June 4-7, 2017
At the 2017 IUWC conference, we are organizing an “urban deer” session, consisting of papers related to urban deer ecology, management, behavior, movements, and habitat interactions. The session is not limited by region, philosophy, or species - all matters of urban ungulate science are welcome. A general focus on urban greenspaces, planning, modelling, and impacts to deer behavior/movements is expected, but will be edited after receiving paper abstracts. A call for abstracts for the conference is expected to open in late 2016. There will be travel grant opportunities for students (open for application in early spring 2017). Other topics at the conference will likely include: Marine urban wildlife Bird conservation in urban areas Urban reptiles and amphibians Roads and urban wildlife Citizen science in urban areas Wildlife education in cities Managing urban wildlife conflict Coyote ecology and management in urban areas Large carnivores such as mountain lions and bears in urban landscapes ...and more! Please contact me with any questions about this session. I hope to see your abstracts in a few short months!
