The Crowder Lab at Washington State University
(http://entomology.wsu.edu/david-crowder/) is seeking a full-time
technician, effective immediately. Duties will include work in both
field and laboratory settings on USDA-funded projects examining the
impacts of farming systems and other land-use practices on insect
communities and plant-insect interactions; including pollination and
disease vectoring. At minimum, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree
in a biology-related field, good organizational and time management
skills, basic computer skills (excel, word processing, etc.), and a
driver’s license. Training will be provided as needed, but experience
with insect identification, plant identification and sampling, plant
care and greenhouse maintenance, molecular methodology (PCR,
sequencing), and/or microbial methods is a plus. Moreover, candidates
that have experience with bee identification are especially desired. The
technician will also be expected to participate in lab meetings and
update his/her skills by reading and participating in classes/workshops
as necessary. The position is full-time and term-limited (funding is
available through September 2018), although there is a possibility of
extending the position pending additional funding. This position would
be an excellent opportunity for someone planning on graduate study in
Entomology and/or Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, as there will be ample
opportunity for the candidate to gain experience in a number of research
areas and to co-author papers. To apply, please send your CV, cover
letter explaining your interest in the position, and contact information
for three references to [email protected].
