The Ecological Restoration Institute (ERI) at Northern Arizona 
University in Flagstaff is searching for a Program Coordinator. The 
primary responsibility of this position is to deliver and communicate 
forest restoration science and technical assistance (best available 
science) to land managers and other collaborative partners in the 
Southwest and the Intermountain West.

Conducts science needs assessments, establishing contacts and 
recognizing opportunities to advance restoration practices on public 
lands.

Provides appropriate science-based responses and/or technical assistance 
in ecological restoration applications to science needs and in 
coordination with ERI Research and Development team. (Includes, but not 
limited to: science synthesis, delivery to practitioners via fieldtrips, 
workshops and/or training, etc).

Participates in field work with ERI Research and Development teams to 
meet monitoring and research needs.

Participates and represents ERI in meetings, workshops, field reviews 
and conferences with agencies, tribes, stakeholders and collaborative 
groups.

Minimum Qualifications
-Bachelor's degree in forest ecology, ecology, or forestry, or related 
field AND two years forest ecology, fire ecology, silviculture or forest 
management program experience; OR,
-Six years of progressively responsible forest ecology, fire ecology, 
silviculture or forest management program experience
-Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education
 
Preferred Qualifications
-Combination of academic and/or practitioner experience in natural 
resources:
-Master’s in forest ecology, ecology or forestry, or natural resource 
management OR
-Silvicultural training (certification) or field experience with land 
management or private forestry management agency OR
-Prescribed fire planning and/or wildfire fighting experience OR
-Work experience and knowledge of land management processes associated 
with federal land management agencies (USFS, BLM, BIA, State), including 
but not limited to; implementation of management plans, project planning 
(NEPA) process, Tribal relationships and agency policy
-Experience in ecological restoration research principles;
-Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively;
-Experience with coordinating across program areas
