*Analytical Biologist*


*Description:  *The University of Florida, Department of Wildlife Ecology
and Conservation at the Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center,
Davie, Florida (the Croc Docs) is seeking an analytical biologist
interested in research related to datasets on invasive and native reptiles,
and long-term monitoring datasets on American alligators (*Alligator
mississippiensis*) and American crocodiles (*Crocodylus acutus*) in
southern Florida. Successful candidate must be a self-motivated individual
with functional knowledge and experience with analytical software and
techniques.  Experience with R, Microsoft Access and Excel, and ArcGIS is
strongly preferred.  Must possess strong organizational skills,
encyclopedic knowledge of statistical analyses and related software, and
ability to work with other researchers.   Research opportunities will build
off of ongoing alligator and crocodile datasets collected over several
decades and invasive and native reptile datasets accumulated over the last
decade. Opportunities exist for the development of novel research projects.

*Qualifications:  *Successful candidate should possess a MSc in ecology,
wildlife biology, conservation biology or related discipline.  He or she
should be comfortable learning and applying hierarchical models of
occupancy and abundance, mark-recapture models, and/or population growth
models.  He or she should be capable in Program R or other statistical
modelling software.  Familiarity with GIS and databases is a plus.

*Salary: *$15-20/hour. Commensurate with experience.
