2017 Spring/Summer Field Assistants Needed Scientists with the USDA Forest Services stationed at the Pacific Northwest Research Station in Corvallis, OR are looking for field assistants (BIOL TECH GS-04) to collect data at multiple sites in OR and WA. We will be traveling to sites throughout the Interior Northwest US (OR, WA and maybe ID, NV). At least one technician will be hired in April with the remaining two in May. All technicians will continue to mid/late-August with one technician staying on until about October to assist with in lab biomass measurements. In the field we will maintain sites, reduce weeds in study plots, and collect data on morphological and reproductive traits from our reciprocal transplant experiment of bluebunch wheatgrass (Pseudoroegneria spicata) to determine the efficacy of seed zones. Desired skills include the ability to collect precise data, possess a valid driver’s license, ability to enjoy long distance driving and scenic views, ability to travel for 5-14 days periods, and ability to weed by hand and with tools or small machines.
