Job Description:

Title: Research Analyst

Salary: $15 per hour

Duration: May 22, 2017 - August 25, 2017

Location/Unit:  Newcomb Campus, State University of New York, College of 
Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY-ESF)

Background: The primary purpose of the apprenticeship is to provide a 
meaningful professional field experience by placing an employee in the role of 
staff member at the Adirondack Ecological Center. The incumbent will gain 
experience with field ecology, laboratory skills, computer analysis, teamwork 
and leadership. The typical day might include supervising a group of students 
in collecting data on Huntington Wildlife Forest or other study site in the 
Adirondacks, performing data analysis, and preparing a report.

Brief Description of Duties: The successful candidate will work with AEC staff 
in conducting research in the Adirondacks. Specific duties include, but are not 
limited to the following:

  *    Vegetation sampling
  *    Small mammal live-trapping
  *    Salamander population estimation
  *    Common Loon surveys
  *    Data entry and analysis
  *    Supervision of undergraduate students
  *    Preparation of reports

Requirements:

Required Qualifications: Bachelor Degree in Biology, Forestry or Related Field. 
 A valid driver's license for travel in New York State.

Preferred Qualifications:  Previously been exposed to Huntington Wildlife 
Forest. Experience in plant and animal identification, vegetation, soil, and 
vertebrate sampling.
