*The Dougherty Family College is the newest college of the University of
St. Thomas, opening in the fall of 2017 on the downtown Minneapolis

*Position Specification*
This is a non-tenure-track, renewable position. Faculty will teach
first-level college Environmental Biology courses and serve as academic
advisors and mentors to a cohort of students. Candidates with expertise
in conservation biology and a passion for sustainability issues are
encouraged to apply. We seek colleagues with a record of success in
teaching Biology courses, proficiency with active-learning techniques,
and expertise in culturally responsive pedagogy, and a commitment to
diversity and inclusion. Faculty are expected to teach three (3) courses
with blended laboratory experiences per semester. In addition to
teaching, faculty are expected to engage in intensive mentoring,
advising and coaching.
*Compensation*
Clinical Faculty in Biology at the Dougherty Family College of the
University of St. Thomas will receive a competitive compensation package
and comprehensive employee benefits. This is a 10-month, renewable contract.

*Qualifications*
Required Master’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or closely
related discipline. PhD preferred. Candidates with at least three (3)
years of college teaching experience (community college teaching
experience a plus) are strongly encouraged to apply.

We are seeking highly motivated, innovative and creative educators who
will provide intensive mentoring, advising, and coaching to students.
Faculty mentors are expected to help students earn their associate of
arts degrees and prepare them with the solid educational foundation to
successfully complete their bachelor’s degrees. Faculty are expected to
be on campus and available to students Monday-Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
Faculty will meet with their advisees (approximately 25 students) for
individual mentoring sessions 30 minutes every other week.
In addition to teaching, mentoring, advising, and coaching faculty are
expected to work with students during the August summer enrichment
program, and perform other responsibilities related to college program
development and assessment.
