The center aspires to be a leader in scholarly research, education, and outreach related to the interconnectedness of large rivers, their floodplains, watersheds, and their associated communities. NGRREC is a collaborative partnership between Lewis and Clark Community College and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. NGRREC seeks project proposals for 2017 that would utilize the organization's mesocosm facilities. Concrete mesocosms supplied with Mississippi River water were constructed at the NGRREC field station in East Alton, IL, and were first used in 2015. NGRREC is offering the use of these facilities at no cost to PI's of accepted proposals. Researchers will have full access to mesocosm facilities (raceways, tanks, or both), technical training and assistance from a NGRREC staff member, and laboratory space for sample processing. Visit <http://ngrrec.org/mesocosms> to learn more about the facilities, read descriptions of past projects, and download the Request for Proposals by clicking the “Mesocosm Request Form” link towards the bottom of the page.
