SCHOOL OF PUBLIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL AFFAIRS

INDIANA UNIVERSITY, BLOOMINGTON

We are seeking a highly-motivated research technician to join a team of
scientists studying land-atmosphere interactions at Indiana University (IU)
- Bloomington. Our work is broadly focused on explaining ecosystem carbon
and water cycle dynamics in North American ecosystems using a range of
tools, including eddy covariance observations, tree physiological
measurements, and network-level syntheses of micro-meteorological data. The
work of the research technician will be focused on understanding ecosystem
carbon and water cycling in the eastern U.S. The approach will blend a
combination of field work, laboratory analyses, and automated data
management and analysis.

The research technician will be based in Bloomington, IN, but will travel
occasionally to remote field sites in North Carolina and Arkansas. This
position may be particularly attractive to young scientists who are thinking
about pursuing a PhD in ecosystem science, as the technician will be exposed
to a wide range of cutting edge field work and analysis tools. The
technician will be supervised by Dr. Kim Novick, and will have the
opportunity to interface with a range of scientists and students working at
Indiana University. The duration of the position is 12-months, with an
opportunity for extension contingent upon performance and funding.

Qualifications: The successful applicant should have a bachelors and/or
masters degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, or a
related field, and should be comfortable working alone or as part of a team.
Applicants with prior field research experience are especially encouraged to
