Applications are invited for tenure-track appointments as Associate 
Professor/Assistant Professor (3 posts) in the School of Biological Sciences, 
preferably to commence on October 1, 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter. 
The posts will initially be made on a three-year term basis with consideration 
for tenure during the second three-year appointment.
The Faculty of Science is one of the larger faculties with 123 academic staff 
in five departments (Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Mathematics, Physics and 
Statistics and Actuarial Science) and one school (Biological Sciences, with 40 
academic staff).  The Faculty provides a supportive and friendly environment 
and is embarking on a programme of recruitment to invest in areas of 
acknowledged strength and to invest in areas of internationally competitive

Applicants must have a substantial record of quality research, and should be 
able to enhance the School's international reputation. Information about the

appointees are expected to strengthen at least one of the three research 
clusters in the School of Biological Sciences, viz. Endocrinology, Plant 
Science, or Ecology & Biodiversity (which includes activities at the Swire 
Institute of Marine Science). They will also be encouraged to develope 
interdisciplinary collaborations between these three clusters and other 
departments within the Faculty.  It is anticipated that the appointees will 
have a light teaching load during the first contract.    
A globally competitive remuneration package commensurate with the appointee's 
qualifications and experience will be offered.  At current rates, salaries tax 
does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a 
contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits 
scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary, as well as leave, and medical 
benefits.  Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
