JOB OPPORTUNITY - PLANT CONSERVATION RESEARCH ASSOCIATE at INSTITUTE FOR CONSERVATION RESEARCH, SAN DIEGO ZOO GLOBAL
The Plant Conservation team at the Institute for Conservation Research, San Diego Zoo Global (SDZG) seeks a PLANT CONSERVATION RESEARCH ASSOCIATE to support the SDZG mission of saving plant and animal species worldwide. Major job activities are related to conservation research, endangered species propagation, and record keeping. Specifically the PLANT CONSERVATION RESEARCH ASSOCIATE will propagates, maintain, and maximize seed production of research plants at the Institute for Conservation Research; assist with seed collections and processing; research horticulture information on target plant species; conduct germination trials of endangered plant species; assist with ongoing studies of several California endangered plant populations and restoration projects; work with volunteer groups to accomplish nursery and field projects; update and maintain plant records and research data; assist with plant identification and labeling; represent SDZG to the public through oral presentations and public event displays; maintain supply inventories and prepare purchase requisitions; track budget expenditures; contribute to written annual reports and publications; help create plant stories about collections at the ICR, Safari Park, and San Diego Zoo to share internally and externally; answer questions from the public; adhere to all SDZG and department policies and practices. This position is grant funded with opportunity for extension as funding allows.
