Dear ECOLOGers,

The ESA Policy Section is organizing a session at ESA Portland in August. This
is the session: SS 18 - Local Ecology-Policy Connections in the Pacific
Northwest and Beyond
(https://eco.confex.com/eco/2017/webprogram/Session13098.html<https://mail.ucsusa.org/owa/redir.aspx?C=Gad8kI0BME6euFe2vTO_G7_ilxaKwNQISAZGh0x5vU8MhA-C6veErIdF5L6mQbF6RkuQy0Nr1uQ.&URL=https%3a%2f%2feco.confex.com%2feco%2f2017%2fwebprogram%2fSession13098.html.>).
We will have a panel of 4-6 people, and each panelist would speak for about
5-6 minutes to:

1. how they came to work with ecology-policy
2. what they do
3. what is the most rewarding part of it

After the panelists speak, we will ask if members of the audience would like to
share similar information. Then we will open up to a few general panel
questions, and after that everyone gets up and mingles for one hour - audience
members will seek panelists for one-on-one conversations or in groups. We will
have light snacks and a cash bar to keep things flowing. We want it to be
organic, simple, friendly, and with a focus on mentoring and recruiting,
especially minorities.

If you have experiences to share on the ecology-policy nexus (anywhere, not
just the Pacific Northwest), or would like to learn more about ecologists
working in policy, please join us.
