Position Announcement: Postdoctoral Researcher - White-nose Surveillance in 
Bats in Midwestern National Parks - University of Missouri

Starting date: September 2017, or as negotiated

We are recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to better understand the 
distribution of the white-nose syndrome (WNS) inducing fungus in multiple US 
Midwestern (Arkansas, Kansas, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska) national parks.  The 
position is available as early as September 1, 2017, but the start date is 
negotiable.  The position will be based out of the University of Missouri, with 
funding secured for 1 year. A competitive salary is available.

The primary research objective is to conduct surveillance of Pseudogymnoascus 
destructans, the causative agent of WNS, in multiple parks in the study region, 
develop species lists, compile demographic information, and develop acoustic 
call catalogs.  It is important the postdoctoral researcher develop strong 
collaborative links with NPS staff.  The postdoctoral researcher will be 
jointly supervised by Drs. Matthew Gompper (University of Missouri) and Joshua 
Millspaugh (University of Montana).

Applicants should possess: (1) a completed Ph.D.; (2) extensive experience with 
bats, including acoustic surveys and mist-netting; (3) strong quantitative 
and/or modeling skills; (4) strong interest in disease ecology and wildlife 
conservation; and (5) strong communication skills and the ability to work 
independently and as part of a team.  .
