Dear Colleagues,
You have likely received numerous 2017 AGU Fall Meeting session
announcements by now. We are convening a session that primarily focuses
on wetland/floodplain/riparian zone effects on eco-hydrology.

Dr. Tim Covino from the Colorado State University, USA and Dr. Nandita
Basu from the University of Waterloo, Canada will be joining as Invited
Speakers. We ask that you please consider submitting your work to this
session.

H147: Wetland and Floodplain/Riparian Zone Effects on Water Quality,
Quantity, and Ecology in Downstream Waters

Wetlands and river corridors, including floodplain/riparian zones, have
significant effects on watershed hydrology, biogeochemical cycling, and
ecology. These ecosystems capture and transform nutrients and other
contaminants, store water to mitigate downgradient peak hydrologic
flows, and serve as habitat for the movement of species throughout
landscapes. This session brings together researchers with diverse
approaches to quantifying the downstream effects of these ecosystems on
water quality, quantity, and ecological functions. The scope of this
session includes both natural and constructed wetlands and
floodplain/riparian zones, so as to better characterize the role of
targeted ecosystem conservation and/or restoration at large spatial
scales and thus guide land use resource management decisions. We welcome
process-level experimental studies at the patch scale and remote
sensing, modeling, and spatial analyses at watershed scale. We
especially welcome contributions that span these scales and that use
emerging process-level understanding to address knowledge gaps and data
needs of larger-scale studies.

Abstract submission deadline: 2 August

We look forward to seeing you at the AGU meeting.
