Full time research assistant position available at University of Rhode Island in the Couret lab centered on vector ecology and evolution and vector borne disease.
The Couret Lab at the University of Rhode Island is looking for a full-time research assistant to support innovative research on disease ecology and evolution of tick and mosquito vectors. The job includes field surveillance of invasive Aedes mosquitoes in Rhode Island, maintenance of colonies of ticks and mosquitoes, and assistance in conducting lab experiments. Experience with field work, basic molecular techniques (DNA extraction/PCR), and spatial data management/mapping in ArcGIS and R preferred. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, one year experience in biological science research, demonstrated strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills, demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills, demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
