Position Description:  The Biology Department in the Division of Natural
Sciences at the University of Maine at Farmington invites applications to
fill a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the area
of Environmental Biology.  Teaching responsibilities each year include a
non-major's course in environmental science and sustainable systems (50% of
load; a full load equals 12 contact hours per semester). Candidates will
also offer upper division courses in their area of specialization. The
successful applicant will establish a research program with an
environmental focus that will actively involve undergraduate students.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Biology is required, which must include
appropriate coursework and training to service both non-majors’ courses and
upper division courses for majors.  Additional desirable qualifications
include undergraduate teaching experience, a record of research
accomplishment, and the clear potential to establish an environmentally
oriented research program based at a small university in rural Maine that
will actively involve undergraduates.  ABD candidates within a year of
completion of the dissertation defense will be considered at the level of
Instructor pending completion of degree requirements.
