The Department of Entomology invites applications for an Assistant 
Cooperative Extension Specialist in the area of integrated management of 
invasive and endemic arthropod species attacking subtropical fruit crops 
at the University of California, Riverside. This is a fiscal year 
position and is available January 1, 2018 with a 90 % Cooperative 
Extension/10% Organized Research appointment in the Agricultural 
Experiment Station (http://cnas.ucr.edu/about/aes/). The position will 
be housed at the University of California Riverside Campus in Riverside, 
CA. The successful candidate will develop an internationally recognized 
and extramurally funded basic and applied research program focused on 
managing and reducing the impact of arthropod pests in commercial 
subtropical fruit crops, such as citrus and avocado. Extension 
responsibilities include the development and implementation of 
educational programs on pest management in subtropical fruit crops. 
These efforts may take a variety of forms including extension 
publications, newsletters, web pages, web blogging, field days, 
participation in Cooperative Extension Advisor meetings, organization of 
specific educational conferences, and contributing to UC ANR workgroups 
and teams. The successful candidate’s work will be aligned with the 
Endemic and Invasive Pests and Diseases Strategic Initiative within UC 
ANR. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. 
Applicants must hold a Ph.D in Entomology, Biology, Pest Management, 
Applied Ecology, or a related discipline; postdoctoral experience is
