SUMMARY: The Department of Biological Sciences at Colorado Mesa University
invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology -
Vertebrate Physiology.  Teaching responsibilities will include human
anatomy and physiology, and/or pathophysiology, general human biology, and
potential upper-level courses based on the applicant’s areas of
specialization.  We seek applications from candidates who display evidence
of excellence and innovation in teaching, and whose research and teaching
expertise complements the strengths and expertise already present in the
department.


The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester; some assigned
courses may be taught on-line, hybrid, or via distance delivery modalities.
Scholarship in the discipline, involvement with advising, and service to
the department and the university are expected.  Additional
responsibilities include providing research opportunities for
undergraduates, and seeking extramural funding.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform
each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.  The requirements
listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability
required.


REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

PhD in Biology/Zoology with a vertebrate physiology emphasis; ABD
considered, but degree must be granted prior to the start date.

Effective communication and organizational skills.


DESIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Experience teaching college level biology courses.

Postdoctoral experience.

Demonstrated enthusiasm for teaching and innovation in the classroom.

Experience mentoring undergraduates in research.

SALARY:  $50,000.00 - 55,000.00.  Commensurate with education and
experience.  Excellent health and retirement benefits package.
