Assistant Professor of Biology The Biology Department at Monmouth University is seeking applicants for an Assistant Professor for the 2018-2019 academic year. This anticipated position is tenure track. The candidate would be expected to teach 9 credits of undergraduate courses per semester. Possible course assignments could include introductory courses for majors, courses for non-majors, as well as zoology, ecology, and other courses in the Marine and Environmental Biology and Policy program. Development of courses for the Marine and Environmental Biology and Policy major in their area of expertise is also desirable. Strong candidates will have a background in biology, ecology, behavior, genetics, life history and habitats of animal populations in the wild with research expertise on wetlands, estuaries, or coastal watersheds at the land-water interface and the use of geographic information systems (GIS) in their research. Teaching and research are mutually supportive activities at Monmouth University. Candidates should be committed to a teacher-scholar model of faculty development, to high-quality teaching, to an active and productive research program involving undergraduate students, to seeking opportunities to work collaboratively with the University’s Urban Coast Institute, and to seeking external funding. Research areas of interest include population dynamics of wildlife species, environmental effects of use and exploitation of wildlife species and their wildlife habitats, and conservation and management of wildlife populations and their habitats.
