PROJECT DESCRIPTION: We are seeking an outstanding student to pursue a PhD
in carnivore ecology and conservation in the Wildlife Ecology program
housed in the Department of Forest and Wildlife Ecology (FWE) at the
University of Wisconsin-Madison. The student’s dissertation will involve
studying the foraging, habitat, and population ecology of forest carnivores
in California using a combination of field, molecular, and population
analysis methods. Additional research components could be added depending
on shared interests and funding opportunities. The student will be
co-advised by Jon Pauli (http://labs.russell.wisc.edu/pauli/) and Zach
Peery (http://labs.russell.wisc.edu/peery/).

REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must possess bachelor’s degree and preferably a
master’s degree in wildlife ecology or closely related field by the start
date.

SALARY AND CONDITIONS: The position will start Fall Semester 2018, with the
possibility of field work in the summer. The position comes with three
years of funding under the title of a Research Assistant, which provides an
annual stipend of $22,000, tuition, and health insurance.
