We are attempting to quantify the physical structure of the vegetation for a large number of sample points. At this point, we have pictures representing vegetation in front of a white cover board that we convert to black and white and then quantify the number of black pixels corresponding to the vegetation. We have been using a batch-processing method in Photoshop that applies a mask and a threshold function to each image. This turns the vegetation black and the cover board white, but we are forced to reopen each processed image and record the number of black pixels manually, which adds substantial handling time. Does anyone know of a way, in either ImageJ or Photoshop, to incorporate the recording of the number of black pixels in the batch processing of the images?
Any help would be greatly appreciated Greg Houseman Wichita State University
