The Adler lab at Utah State University (https://qcnr.usu.edu/labs/adler_lab/) is looking for an ambitious undergraduate student for an NSF-funded REU position to study the role of soil microbes in plant coexistence. The undergraduate researcher will contribute to ongoing NSF-funded research investigating the role of plant-soil feedbacks in plant coexistence in the sagebrush steppe in eastern Idaho, and develop an independent project on a related topic. Potential projects include effects soil microbes on plant reproduction and plant traits, or other species interactions (e.g. herbivory) on plant coexistence. The position pays a $500 per week stipend for 10 weeks, beginning mid-May to early-June, 2018. To be eligible, you must be a US citizen or permanent resident currently working towards a Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. biology, ecology, environmental sciences).
