Dear Ecolog'ers, The Asia Section of the Society for Conservation Biology is seeking a volunteer to design our new website. The position comes with a free membership to SCB and a discount to an SCB conference. Please see below for complete details and contact information (do not reply this message).
Thank you, Shermin de Silva Communications Officer, SCB Asia Section -- *Many small people, who in many small places, do many small things, can alter the face of the world.* - Artist, Berlin Wall *SCB Asia Section Webmaster (Volunteer)* The Society for Conservation Biology's Asia Section <http://www.google.com/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fconbio.org%2Fgroups%2Fsections%2Fasia&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNGZpiig4xbMt-syKxAiScREDX8lVg> is seeking a volunteer Webmaster to design its new website. The Webmaster will be a new position within the Asia Section. This position offers the opportunity for innovation and creative vision on how to create a platform that will engage members, while serving the Asia conservation community at large. The ideal candidate should have experience building websites with Weebly, WordPress or a similar website builder within a reasonable timeframe (e.g. 2-3 months). Relevant programing language skills would be helpful but are not necessary. We are looking for a candidate who is an independent, creative problem-solver who will create and manage a functional, visually appealing website that helps accomplish the Asia Section’s mission to engage with and support conservationists working in Asia. The Webmaster would ideally begin working on the website in early April 2018 with the goal to launch the site in June 2018. We envision the initial time commitment while building the website as no more than 1-2 days per week for 2-3 months, possibly less, depending on the Webmaster’s skills and the website specifics. Thereafter the Webmaster would manage the website, which could take <1 day per week. The Webmaster would work to build a website that meets basic organization and content needs identified by the Asia Section Board and would have plenty of freedom to creatively design the website. This is a volunteer position; no financial compensation is available. However, the Webmaster will be given a free SCB membership and discounted registration to an SCB conference. This position will also provide opportunities to connect with Asia Section Board members and Chapter leaders and to network with the broader Asia Section community. The position will be supervised by Jennie Miller, member of the Asia Section Board. If interested, please send 1) CV/resume and 2) a cover letter that states your interest in the position, contains links to examples of websites that you have designed, built or managed, and explains your role with these websites. Submit applications to Jennie Miller at [email protected] <https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/h/1ma6eeqpu2gxw/?&cs=wh&v=b&[email protected]>. The position will remain open until filled but we encourage applicants to submit materials by March 25, 2018.
