The Department of Geoscience and Natural Resources at Western Carolina University is seeking applications for a 9-month tenure track Assistant Professor in the Environmental Science program to begin August 2018. Candidates across a broad range of specialties that add to the existing expertise to our department will be considered, but we are particularly interested in expertise in sustainability science as related to climate variability and change, natural resources, environmental sustainability, global environmental change, sustainable development, or drivers and consequences of land use change. The Department is home to programs in geology, natural resources, environmental science, and geography, which all share a commitment to excellence in teaching and undergraduate research. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and providing experiential learning opportunities for undergraduate students related to their area of scholarship. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate courses in introductory geospatial technologies and data analysis, the Environmental Science program, the general education curriculum, and potentially, upper level courses related to the candidate’s area of expertise.
