The Auburn University Disease Ecology Lab is looking for four field 
technicians with strong work ethics and interest in field sampling to 
assist in a state-wide sampling effort to conduct mosquito surveillance in 
Alabama over the summer. This is a paid position.

The positions, based out of Auburn, Alabama, have the following 
responsibilities and will receive training in:


- Field collections through backpack aspiration and larval sampling (will 
require many hours spent outside during the summer)

- Small mammal trapping

- Laboratory DNA/RNA extractions

- PCR



Qualifications for the positions:
Good work ethic and an interest in mosquitoes/ disease ecology/ public 
health. Experience with mosquito sampling or field work highly desirable. 
Successful candidates must be a team-player, demonstrate strong 
communication skills, follow instructions well, and pay attention to 
detail.  Candidates must have a commitment to field personnel and 
equipment safety. Individuals must have and maintain a valid driver's 
license as well as be able to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions 
and for long hours.

Jan 1, 2019.
