Hi all, We are pleased to announce a new version of ViXeN (version 1.0rc2). ViXeN <https://github.com/vixen-project/vixen> (*View eXtract and aNnotate *media*) *is a simple, free and open source tool to facilitate easy viewing, adding, and annotating of metadata associated with media.
One may think of ViXeN as a special, customizable file browser to view and edit metadata associated with media files like videos, images, text, and audio. It has been used to manage projects with photographs, camera trap videos and images, and PDFs for literature reviews. It can also be used for projects involving audio, such as bird calls. Although this is an RC release which is not supposed to have too many changes, we discovered a few issues and received some useful feature requests that we felt were worth rolling into this release. As before, we continue to provide convenient, compact, binary installers for Windows, macOS, and Linux. In addition, this release is also available via Python's packaging index PyPI. Here are the major changes: * Add pause/stop buttons when processing files and clean up processing UI. * Fix bug with saving projects which had tagger processors. * Support to copy a project. * Awesome new logo for the application and documentation. * Improved the rescan functionality to warn users about what it does and remove dead files from the database. * Add a new "text" tag type for larger text input. * Warn user when they add unsupported tag names. * Add button to re-order the tags. * Fix UI slowness when editing a lot of text on firefox. * Fix an issue with CSV export with unicode text. * Support for Python 3.x.
