PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Pending appropriate regulatory approval and permitting, I am seeking a wildlife biologist to act as a project leader for an invasive species experimental removal study in the Sierra Nevada, California. The successful applicant would lead a team of ~4 field technicians and graduate students removing invasive species across the Sierra Nevada landscape. The successful applicant would be responsible for hiring, purchasing, and coordinating all field work, as well as conducting basic data analyses and report writing. The project leader would be supervised by Zach Peery, the principal investigator ( http://labs.russell.wisc.edu/peery/).
REQUIREMENTS: Prior experience and expertise with firearms is required. Experience leading field crews is also required, as is comfort with nighttime and winter field work. Applicants must possess bachelor’s degree and preferably a master’s degree in wildlife ecology or closely related field by the start date. SALARY AND CONDITIONS: This 2-year position will start in October 2018. The project will be based year-round in the northern Sierra Nevada, with housing provided. The annual salary will be $40,000 to $52,000 depending on experience.
