Dear Colleagues,

We would like to draw your attention to our AGU session *H003: Advances in
ecohydrology of water-stressed environments *

https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm18/prelim.cgi/Session/49205

We welcome submissions focusing on the ecohydrological processes/feedbacks
in water-stressed environments and their implications on a broad range of
issues including ecosystem change, land use change, water resources,
desertification, and food-energy-water nexus.

The invited speakers are Jayne Belnap from USGS and William Lauenroth from
Yale University.

The deadline for all submissions is *Wednesday, 1 August 23:59 EDT. *

Please see session details below. We look forward to receiving
your abstract and seeing you in in Washington, D.C.

Thanks!

Session Title:
Advances in ecohydrology of water-stressed environments
Session Description:
Water-stressed environments include drylands and any drought-ridden systems
where ecosystem productivity is water limited. Drylands are regions where
precipitation is low relative to evapotranspiration. Drylands make up
about 40% of the terrestrial land surface and an increasing number of
human population depend on them for livelihoods and survival.
Anthropogenic activities (i.e., agriculture and grazing) and global climate
changes (i.e., CO2 enrichment, drought and warming) are increasingly
affecting the dryland vegetation and water dynamics in many dryland regions
worldwide, thereby influencing ecohydrological and geochemical processes,
regional climate and the provision of ecosystem services such as livestock
grazing, sheltering of the soil surface, and carbon sequestration. These
highlight the importance of advancing our understanding of ecohydrological
processes in water-stressed environments. We welcome submissions focusing
on the ecohydrological processes/feedbacks in water-stressed environments
and their implications on a broad range of issues including ecosystem
change, land use change, water resources, desertification, and
food-energy-water nexus.
