The Genung Lab has openings for PhD students to begin in either Spring or
Fall 2019. We study plant and insect community ecology, both in the field
and through the development of new analyses and theory. We have particular
interests in biodiversity-ecosystem function relationships, plant-pollinator
interactions, and the importance of within-species genetic variation.

The University of Louisiana, Lafayette is a national research university,
and the Department of Biology is growing rapidly with many new faculty
members in ecology and evolution. The Department offers excellent
fellowships for well-qualified applicants. Southern Louisiana allows for
field work in many different environments, including coastal, swamp, forest,
and agricultural ecosystems. Lafayette is an affordable, medium-sized city,
and the unofficial capital of the Acadiana region – a unique melting pot of
American, French, African, and Spanish culture with outstanding food and music.

We are seeking bright, motivated individuals with a history of research
experience, ideally including one or more peer-reviewed publications or
scientific presentations. If interested, send your CV, a short cover letter
describing your previous research and ideas for projects to carry out in the
lab, and contact information for two references to Mark Genung
(mark.a.genung at gmail.com).

The Genung Lab encourages applications from underrepresented groups, and
does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, age,
religion, sex, sexual orientation, or disability in admission to, access to,
treatment in, or employment in its programs and activities as required by
all applicable federal and state laws.
