For my undergraduate Ecology course I'm planning a lab activity based on
pollinator
ecology. We're going to visit a commercial honeybee hive. Students will wear
protective
gear when entering the location of the hives.

I'm curious as to how others deal with the increased risk of bee stings in
field-based
laboratories like Ecology, and in particular when working directly with honey
bees. Does
anyone have any insight from an instructors perspective? Do you carry EpiPens?
Do you
put the responsibility on students? What if they don't know if they have an
allergy to bee
stings?

Thanks!
