We are looking for an enthusiastic field and experimental research assistant to
work on a project
investigating the effects of climate change and disease on amphibian
populations in central
Louisiana. Start date is January/February 2019 and the end date is flexible.
However, we are
looking for someone who is available to work through at least August 2019.

Field work involves surveying amphibian populations for chytrid fungal
pathogens in remote
(and beautiful!) locations in central Louisiana. This work involves day and
night surveys, hiking in and
out of sites, and deploying and checking aquatic traps. In addition, we will be
running a
mesocosm experiment that involves setting up and monitoring the development of
larval
amphibians in artificial ponds.

Requirements:
•Undergraduate degree in Biology, Ecology, Wildlife Management, or related field
•Valid driver’s license, and comfortable driving long distances on a regular
basis
•Comfortable working in hot and sometimes buggy conditions
•Positive attitude, good communication skills, and team player

Desired skills:
•Previous field work experience and experience capturing and identifying
amphibians is
preferred
•Previous experience with mesocosms is desirable but not required

Benefits:
•Field housing is provided and pay is commensurate with experience

To apply, please send a cover letter, CV, and contact details for two
references to Dr. Michel
