Call for papers: Foreign Direct Investment Trends and Challenges:
Technological Innovation, Employment, and Development

The global economy has changed dramatically during the last decades.
Foreign direct investment (FDI) has been played an important role in
regional economic developments in both developed and developing countries,
as a source of finance, technology and innovation, management, labor
skills, and competition. However, abilities to both attract and to benefit
from FDI vary a great deal depending on the host region since
socioeconomic, institutional, and cultural factors both enable and
constrain host regions in their efforts to attract and appropriate benefits
from FDI. Foreign direct investment can advance economic growth through
financial and technological utilization, but the harmful distributional
influence of FDI on the inequality of economy has been criticized by
divergence schools. Given this overview this session will examine the
contemporary trends in FDI and challenges facing the development prospects
in both developed and developing countries. Specific topics might include,
but are by no means limited to:

• FDI, growth, and development
• FDI location and determinants
• FDI, technology, and innovation
• FDI, employment, and human capital
• FDI, entrepreneurship, and institutions
• FDI and global cities
• Global networks of FDI
