Dear All,

Please forward the announcement below to anyone who might be interested in
a Research Associate position to work on the ESRC-funded 'Regional
Technology Foresight' project.

Best wishes,

Jorge

*Research Associate, Regional Technology Foresight*

We are embarking on an exciting new project on the practices and processes
of identifying, transferring and integrating technological innovations to
maximise capacity and capabilities of regional firms. ‘Regional Technology
Foresight’ is a 24-month project funded by the Economic and Social Research
Council (ESRC). Focusing on the Sheffield City Region as an internationally
recognised manufacturing hub, the project will generate procedural
solutions concerning the enhancement of a region's ability to identify and
exploit technological innovations, in order to maximise competitiveness.

This position is an opportunity for an ambitious post-doctoral researcher
to play a key role in exploring technological foresight to better
understand the patterns of change and innovation associated with regional
dynamics. The appointed person will work with Dr Jorge Tiago Martins and
Professor Tim Vorley, examining regional technology foresight as a concrete
regional tool aimed at enhancing knowledge transfer and conversion in
regional innovation networks.

You will have a commitment to delivering first-class research, combining
theoretical sophistication with practical relevance and impact. You will
have have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant field and a strong background
in the fields of strategy, organisation, technology and innovation. You
will have excellent skills in qualitative research methods (archival
research, interviews and focus groups) and experience in project
management. You should be capable of delivering impact through engagement
with companies and key players in the national and regional innovation
system.

You will join the Information School at the University of Sheffield, which
is recognised nationally and internationally for its world-class research,
excellence in teaching, and the achievements of its graduates. It is the
leader in its field in the UK, consistently ranked number one in every
national Research Assessment Exercise and achieving top-ranking positions
for research environment and research impact in the Research Excellence
Framework 2014. It is a member of the international iSchools organisation,
a group of leading cognate schools established to promote the role of the
information field in shaping the future of the global information society.
