Wow, that post woke me up! I've been conditioned to think I need to add fertilizer for my plants. Now I realize my potting medium IS fertilizer, so there is no need to add any more. My plants are already potted in 100 percent compost. Also I put the dead leaves on top. My compost is homemade and very rich and "gooey" so YMMV.
