Yes, the idea that herbs need respect is a good point. We
could probably say the same thing about food. Some cultures
have rituals or even blessing associated with food/meals and
this may help create a useful attitude.

For the last few days i've been trying kava to learn about
its use. I sense that too much might cause trouble like too
much alcohol.

Thanks, i have not read the one on herbs of the Pacific Northwest
and will look it up.

This leads to the question of how does one know when to be an apprentice
and when to be a master? Another line of reasoning which is interesting:

  * Our would is full of unsolved problems, unanswered questions,
and new discoveries occur daily. Clearly, we still have much to learn.
  * Given that we have much to learn can anyone be a master and can
any of us be other than humble.
  * Therefore if a master existed they would be humble and not
    assume they were a master.

The point is: we are both master and student. We are both knowledgable
and ignorant. We should question everyone and expect everyone
to question us. We are all teachers and we are all students.

Yeah, I'll rant when this kava wears off. Right now all i
can do is sit here and grin. One book said you can get a
similar effect with hops. Since kava does not grow here,
i'll be playing with hops soon.
