Computerized bird watching, what next?

Me, too ; )

Seriously, or perhaps not so seriously, I had an interesting bird
experience the other day. We have had a pair of Mallards visit our pond
off and on over the last week. One time I heard a familiar "quack quack"
and turned expecting to see the ducks in the pond. None there. A few
minutes later, again, "quack quack", but no ducks. A third time again,
"quack quack" and no ducks in the pond, but this time I noticed the sound
was not coming from the pond but the utility pole nearby. On top of it was
not a duck but a Mocking Bird! Listening to its never ending song, I heard
the variety of familiar bird songs and calls, including a quail. I don't
know if it repeats in the same order each time, but a few minutes later I
heard the duck call. I have been trying to identify birds by their calls
and songs lately and had recognized in the Mocking Bird's song many local
bird sonds and calls, but I have never heard it mimic a duck! Mistery
solved, I thought it quite amusing, but then it doesn't take much ; )
