Just my first reaction, but with such a broad net such as "culture", it
seems obvious that all problems would lead back to it. Do we have any
control outside of culture? In other words, do we have any other way,
besides culture, to solve problems? The _symptoms_ of problems may be seen
outside of culture, but, if we are to have any possibility of doing
anything about them, the solutions must always be cultural. Just a
thought, try it out.

I do get your point, though. The falling trees are not the problem; it is
the attitudes and beliefs of the people involved -- most everyone. As we,
or more accurately, each one of us finds more sustainable cultural values
and expressions, the situation will change.
