The August issue of "Science News" has an article on climate
change with a new perspective. Is says most scientists have
given up on trying to convince the world climate is changing
and are now focusing on how to live with the coming changes.

According to "Science News" scientists see climate change all
around and are tired of trying to convince people of the obvious.
They feel their time is better spent trying to cope with the problems
that are expected. Mostly this involved government task forces
and plans for costal cities.

On a personal level this same approach might be worth some time.
Most areas have several computer models predicting what will happen
and this is a good place to start. I've only watched the models for
this area and they indicate more moisture, more fluctuations in
climate, and probably warmer summers. The changes will be gradual
and it might take fifty years to raise the average temperature two degrees.

Long range plans to adjust might include:

  1. Orchard plantings
  2. Design of living spaces
  3. Location of houses.
  4. Impacts on local facilities
  5. Education regarding weather problems, tornados, etc.
