A minor clarification -- the Hudson Bay Company was granted a charter to
exploit most of what is Canada today, as well as those parts later taken by
the USA, now Oregon and Washington Sate, and whatever state is south of
Manitoba.
Their charter covered everything from Hudson Bay to the Pacifi Ocean.
Not that the British Crown or the HBC cared a whit that this land was
already inhabited.
I am working towards posting something about our recent Fall Fair, which
was this past weekend.
But I have to go to a meeting tomorrow and do battle with the forces of
gentrification, who don't want to actually have to see any farmwork being
done on the farmland here. Thew next it is the movement to incorporate as a
municipality. I'm all for self-government, but the advent of a municipality
means more opportunities for the developers.
Maybe I should just type about this for the list.
