I just finished reading a small book which pointed out that early western
philosophy as described by Epictetus (55-135 A.D.) had many things in
common with Asian philosophy. Awareness of the present moment and
viewing life as a process without absoltues were two charactericts
mentioned. Today these ideas are making a comeback and it makes
one wonder how much we really know about some areas of life. Also,
i wonder why these ideas are called religon when imported from Asia
and philosophy when imported from an old Roman slave.
