> Does anyone know the difference between Blueberries and Huckleberries?

Don't know how a biologist would note the differences, but as a forager
the differences are easy to see. We have two native huckleberries here
in the NW and they have a unique taste. One has small red berries and
the other has larger purple berries. Some garden catagories carry a
plant they call huckleberry and this confuses things. As best i can tell
it is in the same family as tomatios (husk tomato).

Blueberries are native to Eastern American and have a different taste. The
end of the berry has pronounced (flutes?) protruding.

It is now October here and we are still picking blueberries. The early
bearing plants started around July or August have kept us in blueberries
all summer. The blueberries we grow are a product of selection and plant
breeding, so i don't know how close they track the native plants. I
suspect these blueberries are larger, produce longer, etc. As time goes by
the commercial interest in blueberries should continue to change the plant.
