Just some thoughts....We have solar power out of necessity. We bought land
that most people would write off as worthless for building in an area
without power and water. (3300 gal cistern for water). We were astronomers
and were first attracted to our area because of the dark skies. The solar
power and wind power in the area has allowed the skies to stay dark. Yes,
the system we have was expensive to put in, but we could have never afforded
the land if there had been water or the prospect of grid power. We now
have a wonderful desert home and are surrounded by ancient junipers, sage
and native plants. We plan on staying off the grid no matter what the
future holds.
