Review of book "Eco-Renovations" continued
The health chapter was divided into: air, water, radiation,
and sound. All these topics are controversial and our
understanding isn't complete. The books assumes air quality
impacts our immune system as does water quality and the other
factors. I happen to agree and have found my migraines can
be triggered by very small toxins and disturbances. I think
each of us will have to decide how important health is and
how well our body repair systems are working. Some people
can ignore selected environmental conditions and others
can't.
Check list for air pollution:
1. Use safe materials in construction and
decorating. Avoid anything that out-gases
or collects dust and mold.
2. Monitor and control humidity.
3. Ventilation both natural and mechanical.
4. Use plants and ionizers to clean air
5. Be cautious with combustion appliances.
Check list for water quality:
1. Have water tested. (tests for all pollutants
can cost a fortune, be cautions here)
2. Consider filters
3. Avoid products with residue or that might
leach into wells.
4. Conserve water if on municipal systems.
The sections on radiation and sound were short because these
things are not considered significant by most people.
Personally, i think the topic of sound needs a lot of
research and can have significant health benefits and also
significant negatives. I've read that the music of Loreena
Mckennitt and Enya fit some peoples feelings about nature and
i have to agree.
