The teachers goal is to eliminate their job one student at a time. The goal of the student is to teach themselves. ---- Industrial people view time as a continuity with a past and future component. The dead are considered gone and the present is merged with the future. Plans and schedules are used to build this future. Time is viewed a cycle by many native peoples. The past is part of the present and nature provides the ruler to tell if time is passing. The dead are never gone. Given the industrial view of time one would expect a fear of death, high interest in manipulating the world (future), and a belief in growth and goals beyond the limits of nature. People would think they are going somewhere and need to make a statement or become famous.
